OUR AIMS

Up Holland High School offers students the opportunity to:
Excel and Enjoy
Excel through OCR Sports Studies qualification and excel in the sports previously covered whilst enjoying others to carry through life.
Chosen pathway of 5 activities and compulsory fitness sessions over the two years of Key Stage 4.

• Excel in attacking and defending skills through increasingly more competitive stations
• Further excel in choreographic and performance skills and techniques
• Excel through leading and officiating competitions developing the ability to feedback effectively
• Developing the ability to transfer skills across activities e.g. attacking and defensive principles

Pathway One:
- Tennis, Athletics
Pathway Two:
- Rounders, Tennis
Pathway Three:
- Athletics, Rounders
Pathway Four:
- Athletics Cricket

Outdoor Education
• Excel in batting and fielding positioning and tactics
• Further excel in shot selection and accuracy in increasingly demanding situations
• Develop a more mature attitude towards game play and tactics
• Further develop the complexity of track and field events in competition and practice

• Survival –
- Outdoor cooking skills
- Further develop orienteering
- Raft building and racing

Fitness Lesson



Autumn, Spring & Summer
Rotation of fitness activities:
- Running
- Circuit Training
- HIIT/Bootcamp
- Exercise to Music
- Plyometrics
• Develop muscular and cardiovascular endurance
• Develop hill running, speed running and endurance running
• Work effectively at high intensity to develop anaerobic and aerobic fitness
• Develop musical timing and coordination with and without a step
• Develop strength and conditioning through power repetitions

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Inclusive lunchtime and after school clubs in the following activities: Football, Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Gymnastics, Dance, Table Tennis, Basketball, Trampolining, Athletics, Rounders, Tennis, Cricket,
Other Trips/ Visits: Ski trip, Outdoor Education Lake District trip, Live sporting events – included in the past – Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Super league netball games, Netball World Cup, Wigan Athletic Team of the Match.
Focus areas: Trek to Tokyo – Inter-house week Olympic based activities, Whole School Olympic week, Fit Fridays, Wellbeing Wednesdays.

Make physical activity part of everyday family life
Exercise with your child
Ride a bike or walk instead of travelling by car
Encourage them to follow official profiles of various sport people or sports they study on social media.
