Intervention is an important part of the work our school does to ensure that pupils make progress and achieve.
At Up Holland High School we operate Year groups with Form Tutors acting as mentors to the pupils in their care. Form Tutors will keep an eye on how pupils are performing in all subject areas, liaise with class teachers, contact parents and carers and write pupil reports. All of this will allow us to identify pupils who may need help in achieving their goals and to put appropriate intervention in place. Some pupils will be specifically mentored by their Form Tutors. Our Heads of Year are:
Head of Year 7 – Mrs D Preston
Head of Year 8 – Mrs L Atkinson
Head of Year 9 – Mr S Priestley
Head of Year 10 – Mrs K Wood
Head of Year 11 – Mrs J Corner
Mr S Priestley has overall responsibility for Lower School (YR 7, 8 & 9) and Mrs K Wood leads Upper School (YR 10 & 11)
Each Department will also be doing what they can to ensure that our pupils make progress. Regular assessment and monitoring of our data tracking system by class teachers, Heads of Progress Leaders and Senior Leaders means that we can quickly see where pupils may need intervention. All subjects run after school sessions as appropriate to allow pupils to catch-up on work they have missed, improve particular skills or get some targeted one-to-one support.
The names of our Progress Leaders can be found on our Staff List page. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need to speak to anyone about pupil progress and intervention.
