Intervention is an important part of the work our school does to ensure that pupils make progress and achieve.

At Up Holland High School we operate a House system with Form Tutors acting as mentors to the pupils in their care. Form Tutors will keep an eye on how pupils are performing in all subject areas, liaise with class teachers, contact parents and carers and write pupil reports. All of this will allow us to identify pupils who may need help in achieving their goals and to put appropriate intervention in place. Some pupils will be specifically mentored by their Form Tutors. They will have short meetings and keep a log so that their Form Tutor can support them in learning journey.  As our motto is ‘Quo Vadis’ – meaning ‘Where are we going’ – we have adopted explorers as the figureheads for our four Houses. Our Heads of House are as follows;

Head of Cook House – Mrs D Preston

Head of Livingstone House – Mrs S Worthington

Head of Mallory – Mr S Priestley

Head of Sharman  House – Mrs K Wood

Each Department will also be doing what they can to ensure that our pupils make progress. Regular assessment and monitoring of our data tracking system by class teachers, Heads of Department and Senior Leaders means that we can quickly see where pupils may need intervention. All Departments run after school sessions as appropriate to allow pupils to catch-up on work they have missed, improve particular skills or get some targeted one-to-one support.

The names of our Heads of Department can be found on our Staff List page. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need to speak to anyone about pupil progress and intervention.
