Year 11: Corona Update

Dear Year 11 Students and Families,

I just wanted to let you all know that we are thinking about you at this particularly difficult and challenging time. You are a fantastic year group who have demonstrated a real appetite and dedication to your work and your studies, a dedication that ought to have been rewarded with phenomenal GCSE grades.

Whilst the Government decide on how best to proceed with exams and grades I wanted to inform you that school will do all it can to support you for the remainder of this year and the start of the next one. We will work closely with the colleges and employers to ensure that your transition into the next phase is a smooth and successful one. We are fully committed to offering you on-going information and guidance when it becomes readily available.

I would like to thank you for your sensible response since the news broke last night. You have demonstrated a togetherness and maturity, which is to your credit. We will be organising a Year 11 picture for those that remain with us Period 5 today. We will repeat this when the year group come together again at Prom or before if possible. We will also be hosting a lunch Period 4 tomorrow in the exam hall so that we can say our farewells in the most appropriate way.

I would also like to reassure you that we will find a way to host your Prom Celebration. There is no way that this special year group is going to miss out on such a fantastic occasion. We will also organise a celebration evening in the autumn term to recognise your progress and academic achievement.

Finally, remember what Ms Nixon said in assembly this morning you are history makers, a tale to share with future generations, a tale that makes you special and unique.

Good luck, we are here with you every step of the way.

Mr Scarborough
