OUR AIMS
The Design Technology curriculum at Up Holland High School is structured to provide a modern and innovative learning experience that allows students opportunities to learn about contemporary technologies, materials and processes, as well as established practices.
Up Holland High School offers students two lessons a week in Design Technology on a carousel system which incorporates one session in Hospitality and Catering in Year 7 & 8 and two in year 9. Each carousel is designed to embed knowledge and skills and help students gain awareness and learn from wider influences on Design and Technology including historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic factors. Students will get the opportunity to work creatively when designing and making and apply technical and practical expertise.
Design Technology allows students to study core technical, designing and making principles, including a broad range of design processes, materials techniques and equipment throughout Key stage 3.

HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask what subject areas they like in Design and Technology? Ask them how something works? Why is it designed like that? What would happen if they didn’t use that particular design? Encourage problem solving and making activities.
